Capture anything on your screen

With ColorSkate you can capture full web pages, the active window, or the full desktop. The images are automatically displayed in ColorSkate's Image Analyzer. Additionally, with the Color Picker, you can grab colors singly or in sequences, from anywhere on your screen.

Gather colors in the Image Analyzer

The Image Analyzer displays photos, captured images or any file of type BMP, PNG, GIF, JPG, WMF or EMF. You can even drag file names from Window's File Explorer and the image will automatically be displayed. Then you can zoom in to an area of interest simply by dragging the mouse to create a selection rectangle. Colors can be sampled by clicking on the image. Or the "Capture" button automatically samples 15 colors from random locations within the image. The size of the "Sampling Brush" can be varied in steps from single pixel to an area 80 by 80 pixels. The sampled color is thus the average color with that brush area.

Create and Save Color Schemes

Any colors sampled from photos or captured images, or grabbed from the computer screen, can be saved as a Color Scheme. ColorSkate allows for an unlimited number of Color Schemes, and each Scheme can hold up to 1000 colors. A Scheme is more than just a collection of colors. You can import PhotoShop color swatches or color tables, or Microsoft PAL files, and they become Schemes. Or, you can export your custom Scheme back to PhotoShop or FreeHand, or in many other formats, including XML and HTML.

ColorSkate has many color resources to help develop your personal Color Schemes. Any color can be viewed in the Color Wheel, which automatically generates 11 harmonious color matches. The 216 color Web-Safe palette, the 4,096 color Web-Smart palette and Windows 16 million color palette are all readily accessible, as are over 700 Named Colors used by Windows, Netscape and X11. And for any color the ColorSpace information can be displayed, in RGB, HSL, CMY, CMYK, and many other formats.
